The Shortline
The Mississippi Delta Railroad traces its beginnings back to the Louisville, New Orleans, and Texas Railroad completed between Clarksdale and Lula in 1884. The Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad gained control of the line by 1885. In 1892, the line fell under the control of the Illinois Central Railroad. On June 30, 2001, the C & J Railroad Company took over operations.

As of today, Mississippi Delta Railroad is a shortline railroad that operates on 6o miles of track from Swan Lake, Ms to Lula, Ms. Although we do not offer a regular passenger train service, we host other special train services. For the past nine years we have contributed to the many activities that a local festival, Juke Joint, has to offer. Seven years after starting our first special one day a year train rides at Juke Joint we began having regular event trains.

Event Trains
The 2015 Christmas season was our first of many event trains to come. Since then, Mississippi Delta Railroad and Hopson Commissary have hosted an Eggspress Train for the Easter Holiday and continue the Juke Joint Train during Clarksdales most popular festival. With each one of these events, we try our best to make the train rides and activities fun for all ages.
